The Association of Lebanese Industrialists issued a statement following its Board of Directors meeting held yesterday at its headquarters under the chairmanship of its President, Salim Zeenni, reaffirming that the industrial sector continues to operate efficiently and meet the country’s consumption needs, particularly in food and essential goods.
The Association confirmed that current stocks of raw materials are sufficient for several months, ensuring continuity in production and supply. However, it highlighted mounting pressures on factories, driven primarily by the sharp rise in production costs—especially fuel prices—as well as a noticeable decline in local demand for non-essential goods.
In addition, the Association noted the suspension of exports to Gulf countries due to the closure of the Strait of Hormuz, further impacting the sector’s performance. The Association also reported that several factories have sustained damage, while others have halted operations in affected areas, particularly in South Lebanon and the southern suburbs of Beirut.
The Association expressed its full solidarity with impacted industrialists and reaffirmed its commitment to supporting them during this challenging period. The Association emphasized that it is closely monitoring ongoing developments and maintaining continuous coordination with factories and relevant government authorities to address sector needs, particularly in securing fuel oil and diesel, and ensuring the uninterrupted supply of raw materials.
In closing, the Association of Lebanese Industrialists expressed its solidarity with the Lebanese people amid the current difficult and sensitive circumstances, underscoring that the national industrial sector—having consistently demonstrated resilience during crises and conflicts—will continue to serve as a key pillar of Lebanon’s food and consumer security.
