The United Nations Special Coordinator for Lebanon, Jeanine Hennis-Plasschaert, visited the Association of Lebanese Industrialists, where she was received by the association’s president, Salim Zeenni, along with members of the board.

During the meeting, discussions focused on the challenges facing the industrial sector and ways to enhance cooperation between the private sector, the government, and UN agencies to achieve sustainable solutions that foster economic growth and promote transparency.

Zeenni emphasized the association’s commitment to strengthening collaboration with the United Nations, particularly with organizations that have joint projects with the association, such as the International Labour Organization (ILO), the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO), UNICEF, the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), and the World Food Programme (WFP). He also expressed hope that these entities would support the industrial sector and help it achieve its goals.

For her part, Hennis-Plasschaert reaffirmed the willingness of international organizations to participate in Lebanon’s reconstruction projects. However, she stressed that the implementation of necessary reforms is a prerequisite to ensuring the success of these initiatives.

She further assured that she would spare no effort in providing the necessary support to the association and requested detailed information on the industrial sector’s needs.
