Visit of Environment Minister to the Association of Lebanese Industrialists: Strengthening Collaboration to Meet Environmental Requirements

Environment Minister Tamara El Zein visited the Association of Lebanese Industrialists, where she was received by President Salim Zeenni and the board. The meeting focused on enhancing environmental cooperation within the industrial sector, particularly for small and medium-sized factories, and explored ways to ensure compliance with environmental regulations.

Zeenni highlighted the association’s commitment to environmental issues, citing past involvement in projects such as the Litani River cleanup and stressing the need for a comprehensive environmental program backed by strict standards and financial support. He also discussed the challenge of wastewater management and the need for state involvement to expand treatment systems across all factories. Minister El Zein emphasized balancing economic growth with environmental protection and expressed concern over the lack of government support for industries aiming to meet environmental criteria. She revealed efforts to revive the proposed National Environment Fund to finance green industrial initiatives.

The meeting concluded with an agreement to organize a joint environmental-industrial conference under the patronage of the Ministries of Environment and Industry, in partnership with the Association of Lebanese Industrialists, to develop an integrated policy that addresses environmental compliance across the sector.
