A comprehensive meeting of the Sectoral Syndicates and Regional Assemblies Council was held at the Association of Lebanese Industrialists, chaired by the Vice President of the Association, Ziad Bekdache. The meeting discussed the challenges of the labor market in terms of securing specialized workforce. In addition to Bekdache, the meeting was attended by members of the Association’s Board of Directors, officials from regional assemblies, and representatives of some sectoral syndicates.
During the meeting, the “Skills Anticipation” survey was presented, which was prepared by the Association in partnership with the International Labor Organization ILO. The aim is to identify skills gaps and labor market requirements in the industrial sector, as well as to assess employment challenges, in order to provide appropriate support and secure vocational training programs for the needed sectors.
A dialogue then ensued among the participants, highlighting the challenges they face in the labor market. They complained about the lack of specialized workforce in the Lebanese market and skilled personnel due to the increasing emigration, especially after the financial crisis in Lebanon and the high salaries they receive abroad.
