Under the patronage of His Excellency President of the Arab Republic of Egypt, Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, the 51st session of the Arab Labour Conference was inaugurated in Cairo. Lebanon was represented by a tripartite delegation headed by Minister of Labour, Mohammad Haidar, and included a delegation from the employers’ group led by Eng. Mounir El Bissat, Secretary of Foreign Relations at the Association of Lebanese Industrialists, and a workers’ delegation headed by Bechara El Asmar, President of the General Confederation of Lebanese Workers. During the opening ceremony, a group of pioneers in Arab labour from various Arab countries were honored, including representatives from Lebanon. A shield of recognition was presented to El Bissat on behalf of the Association of Lebanese Industrialists, and to Hassan Fakih, Vice President of the General Confederation of Lebanese Workers.
Additionally, Talal Hijazi, General Manager of the Association of Lebanese Industrialists, was elected for a second term as a member of the Financial and Administrative Supervisory Board, representing the employers’ group at the Arab Labour Organization.
