Cedro 5 project

Dear Association of Lebanese Industrialists (ALI) Members,

We have signed a collaboration agreement with the UNDP to support Lebanese industrial facilities in transitioning towards renewable energy systems and increasing energy efficiency through funding from the European Union.

Approximately ten industrial facilities are to be selected for the full implementation of various interventions in solar photovoltaic systems for electricity generation (2 sites to be selected), solar thermal energy for heating processes and/or steam production (3 sites to be selected), biogas for heat and electricity generation (2 sites to be selected), and energy efficiency interventions to lower heating and/or electricity demand (3 sites to be selected).

We are initiating a competitive application process for industrial facilities to select these ten sites. The UNDP, in collaboration with ALI, will undertake (with international technical support) the full design and procurement of the technologies to be implemented and will be present through the process up until the commissioning and operation of the systems. The UNDP, through the European Union, will also provide a grant component that ranges between approximately 23% and 45% of the eventual costs of each of these systems.

More information can be found in the attached application form with a deadline set to receive applications on Octobre, 30, 2020 the below are important timelines to keep in mind:

Deadline for applications

Octobre, 30, 2020

As above, the final selection of sites will take place towards the beginning of 2021 and co-financing from the selected sites will not be required until the end of 2021. Again, this information and other important details are found in the attached application form.

We highly encourage you to apply to this opportunity that will go a long way to reduce the energy costs of the selected beneficiaries, spread awareness on the financial benefits of sustainable energy, and improve the environmental footprint of Lebanese industries.

We remain ready to respond to any questions or clarifications you may have, and we may initiate, upon your requests, workshops that will clarify to you the application form requirements, the technical and financial benefits of these technologies and other matters that you may need to inquire about.

With best regards,
